Discussion Series on Geoeconomics

The global economic order is shifting, with states increasingly reclaiming their role in shaping markets through geoeconomic strategies. This marks a move away from the idea that free trade and self-regulating markets alone can ensure peace and prosperity. While economic security has become a priority for many governments, a broader perspective on economic policy making is essential for building a resilient global economy and promoting global prosperity. At Bundeskanzler-Helmut-Schmidt-Stiftung (BKHS), we have therefore launched the project “Inclusive Geoeconomics” researching how to implement geoeconomic practices that ensure resilient trade relations while addressing social justice and planetary boundaries.

In a series of six interdisciplinary conversations we discuss how to design economic statecraft considering both economic security and social justice imperatives. If you want to learn more about our BKHS project “Inclusive Geoecoonomics”, check out our website. If you sign up for the project newsletter, you will receive invitations to the discussion series and updates on the project.
